WHAT a year for music in 2007 the year of the mega concert.
Lionel Richie, Queen, Lily Allen, Kanye West and Elton John played the Concert For Diana, a charity event marking the 10th anniversary of her death and what would have been her 46th birthday.
But that was trumped a week later by Bob Geldof's Live Earth, a series of concerts on every continent designed to raise awareness of global warming.
The event was supported by music royalty, including Madonna, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Black Eyed Peas, Genesis, Lenny Kravitz and Australasian acts Keith Urban, Crowded House, Eskimo Joe, Sneaky Sound System and the John Butler Trio.
But what did the experts think, the ones who actually play the music? We asked Brisbane's radio DJs to give us their take on the year in music.
For Nova afternoon host Emily Jade, 2007 was all about Australian bands and artists.
Her band of the year nod went to The Veronicas, the Brisbane-born and bred twins who spent most of this year recording in LA.
"I think their new album sounds fantastic, their look is fantastic and I just want to take them home and cuddle them like pets, they're so cute," Emily Jade said.
Like her stablemate Michelle, Emily Jade went for Two Hearts by Kylie for her song of the year.
"I love her new look. Im a diehard fan anyway. It's the sexiest video, with the skull and diamond-encrusted microphone. I love the new look and I just think its such a catchy, sexy sort of song and I love it."
From love to hate - Emily Jade hated Paris Hilton and the jailbird's succession of dreary singles.
" I don't care what she does, just stop doing it," Emily Jade pleaded. "She keeps saying she wants to have babies. I just wish she would go and do that. I don't want her to sing, I don't want her to act, I don't want to read about her, I don't want to wear her perfume."
The seemingly endless parade of stars submitting to rehab was the big music story of the year, but what of 2008?
Emily Jade said Gold Coast band Operator Please, a winner at the 2007 ARIAs, would go on to excellent things.
"I have big beliefs in that band. I just think look out for Operator Please."
